The Spirit of Christmas

It's the 23rd of December. This means literally nothing to me. It's another day. The fact that Christmas Eve is tomorrow means not a thing. I have to work like usual - so it's also a normal day.

I exchanged a few presents with my sister the other day. I got a few pieces of art to hang in my living room. Evan said sarcastically, "Great - art is useless. It just hangs and sits there." But it makes me feel like I'm an older, mature lady (not a teenage boy) or a college student with posters on her wall hung up with scotch tape and tacks (and keep in mind, some of my art is still hung up this way.)

To celebrate Christmas I am watching "A Diva's Christmas Carol" which my sister and I chose to watch because of Vanessa Williams and Kathy Griffin. It's terrible. And awesome. Awesomely terrible.

So far though, this Christmas season hasn't been much of anything. I've listened to a few Christmas songs. Besides this post, I've also been using the word "Christmas" less and the word "Holiday" a lot more - trying to be PC ruined my Christmas.

There's a lot of other things going on, too, so I don't have a lot of time to think about Holiday. But, I will enjoy a few days off.

That picture was taken at my "Chrismukkah" party three years ago. THREE YEARS. I was living in Revere. I was early into improv, and working at Improv Asylum. I was so young and innocent. Look at me now!

I'm excited for the new year. I'm excited to see what it brings. Evan will be working with me at AMP - which will be totally strange. My two worlds colliding. But it should be interesting seeing his work ethic when he doesn't have me to say, "OK Great, just make me laugh and I'll do all the work." Though that's mainly because I'm a control freak.

Regardless, I hope you all have a good Holiday. And may you learn from the diva herself, Ebony (get it, Ebeneezer Scrooge!) from "A Diva's Christmas Carol" and don't yell at your tour staff... treat them nicely. They could have tiny children named Tim, or strange likenesses to Idina Menzel, you don't know about.
