when the going gets rough...

I’ve mentioned it previously, but I’ve seriously been in a financial rut. I blame it on a myriad of things. But mainly liquids. My sister said it last week – “Most of your problems come in liquid form.” Between my Starbucks intake and drinking – I’ve been pretty poor the last few months or so.
And there’s really no excuse. I make decent money. My rent is insanely cheap. And my bills are a lot less than they could be.

However, things have got a little bit better. I haven’t overdrafted in a while, and I’ve been able to go out and enjoy life every now and then. Here’s what I did:

I stopped going to Starbucks every day. At this point, I sometimes only go once a week. I know, unbelievable. And while coffee from work doesn’t necessarily taste as good, it’s both healthier and cheaper.

I bring my lunch to work. Sometimes it’s literally just corn or green beans. Or whatever’s free from work. Or a Cheesecake Factory meal I got on the weekend that lasts for three additional lunches due to their giant portions. And if there’s nothing for dinner, I’ve literally been subsisting on Ernesto’s pizza. I can usually scrap $3-$4 out of the bottom of my purse.

I’m trying to drink less. For many reasons. Some of them being financial, some of them to stop me from digging up all my treasures for the world to hear, and some to just help stay in control of myself. Over the weekend, I totally lost control. There’s a 2 hour block of time I can’t account for. And that’s both terrifying and completely unacceptable. But, I have to say, I still enjoy walking into the bar hearing, “The usual, Patty?” and it makes me even happier to know that the bartender (my favorite in the world) didn't say, "Oh, come on, you know you want to!" but instead slid me over a water instead. He's a good man.

But, all in all, I’ve been pretty good! And I’m pretty proud of myself. I’ve been able to pay bills and not worry as much. I haven’t even used my credit card in a few weeks. Progress, people, progress! Progress all over the place! Maybe next I'll give up my BlackBerry. (And I just went into total panic at the mere thought...)

Now, there's just that other vice…

That's boots, by the way. Boots are my vice. Not being a dominatrix.

Oh I do disagree. Just wearing a serious pair of boots make a Dom outta you.

Have you ever tried being a Dominatrix? Intelligent women make the best Dommes.
