Aha! Moment

This doesn't really go with the post. But I consider it Matt's "Aha!" moment because we were doing our first corporate show at Mohegan Sun & it felt really cool. What a world!

OK, fine, sometimes I read O! Magazine.

There's a monthly feature where celebrities share their "Aha!" moments. This month, it was Maya Rudolph. She closed with this paragraph:

The Groundlings became my graduate school. I studied there for about four years, and I ate, slept and drank improv and sketch comedy. I learned how to write pieces and how to use my singing in performances, and I got to perform with a bunch of other weirdos, who became like family. The craziest thing was, I received word that I had been made an official Groundling on the same day I flew to New York to start a job with Saturday Night Live. It's like, Don't just think about it. Do it.
I guess that's what I'm doing right now, except in a city where it's not really recognized. I'm not in L.A. or Chicago or New York, but I'm happy right now. Some day I'll be there. But right now, I'm here and I'm doing everything she did, and feel the same way about it. I'm learning so much, and this is my grad school... I'm not just thinking about it, I am doing it.

And I get to perform with SO MANY weirdos {oh, and they are the WEIRDEST}... but they are my family. And I don't know where I'd be without every single one of their dumb faces.

Maybe we're all not as shit out of luck as we think.
